MEETING AT MIFOTRA BUILDING WITH INGO COMMUNITY AND GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS TO DISCUSS ON THE NEEDS ASSESSMENT REPORT TO BE BASED ON WHEN DEVELOPING ONLINE INGO DATABASE

The government of Rwanda/DGIE with Members of International NGOs (INGOs) operating in Rwanda have discussed on the development of online INGO database system will facilitate the DGIE to all services INGOs on online.

The meeting was held 23/09/12 at Migration Offices, and chaired by Mr. Anaclet Kalibata, the Director General of the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration (DGIE). The DG welcomed all participants in the meeting informed them that the objective of database is to save time and resources that stakeholders have been spending to acquire services manually previously.

Mr. Myal Greene, the Chairperson of NINGO also the Country Director of World Relief RWANDA, thanked DGIE initiating the idea to use an online registration system. He however cautioned that the new system should not add work load on users rather than solving the prevailing challenges.

The DGIE and INGOs concur that the proposed the online INGO database will be user friendly and able to solve the manual, tedious and time consuming processes that characterizes registration and other related INGO services. During this meeting it was agreed that a volunteered steering committee can be put in place to review the need assessment report if all required information was captured and inform INGO community in the next final meeting in order for the developer to start the development of the system.
